Integrating Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life: Seer And Seen

  1. Consciousness is one, through the consciousness we can differentiate seer and seen are different. Consciousness is like the ocean is your god-self… Consciousness is as vast as the ocean.
  2. Whatever I can see is not me. The quality of the object belongs to the object, not to me. We can see our body. So we are not body and the gender, colour etc of the body belongs to the body and not to me. Sensation in the body also belongs to it. As at any time the sensation can be changed with medical help.
  3. It is very easy for us to understand that objects which we see are not who we are because we are not identified with it. If one leg of a chair is broken we don’t say that our leg is broken. But if the same thing happens with our body or the object to which we possess immediately we feel it’s mine because we are identified with it. This only means that we have to deal with deformity of the body without any identification. Our identification with body and possession is the cause of our misery.
  4. Pain in the body is fact, as it is biological. But the suffering is psychological. Suffering is because of our identification with the pain and body. As we have created a connection between pain and suffering. So we are miserable. Deal with pain without any identification. We need to respect and honour our body without any identification, so we can drop our suffering. Yoga disconnects the association of pain and suffering. So that we can deal with pain and eliminate suffering.
  5. We can observe our fluctuating mind in the form of emotions, thoughts, imagination and feelings. So the fluctuations belong to the mind. Our identification with the fluctuating mind creates happiness and unhappiness. Remember this happiness and unhappiness is not mine, it is our identification.
  6. Consciousness can illuminate both seer and seen. If our focus is on seen with the seen we move towards duality and identification. Which is the source of my happiness and unhappiness. But with the same consciousness if we focus on seer the seer disappears as wave and realised his oceanic nature. Consciousness is unaffected by seer or seen. It is beyond both. As Soon as we are settled in our oceanic nature we become still and then we will be able to see the movement of our mind.
  7. Unless we settle in our oceanic nature we know ourselves through others. We get identified with it. Because of this identification we are dependent on others.
