Integrating Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life: Knowledge and Wisdom

  1. When we see ourselves or the world which is not the nature of the seen is called False Knowledge, Misconceptions. False knowledge is to have the impression that “I know” when you really don’t. This illusion will become a barrier to re-mystifies existence. False knowledge demystifies existence; true knowledge re-mystifies it. Knowing, if authentic, makes life more of a mystery than it has ever been before.
  2. Knowledge satisfies the ego; wisdom destroys the ego completely; hence people seek knowledge. It is very rare to find a seeker who is not interested in knowledge but is interested in, committed to, wisdom. Knowledge means theories about truth; wisdom means truth itself. Knowledge means secondhand; wisdom means firsthand.
  3. False knowledge is the way in which the mind generally functions. The Mind is inherently at loss to perceive the real as it is, from a distance the mind perceives a mound of sand as silver and a rope lying on the road can be taken as a snake. This wrong knowledge is also one of the ways, modifications, in which the mind works.
  4. False knowledge is interested in gathering information and not living. Unless knowledge becomes knowing through your own experience, the mind cannot discriminate.
  5. Seeing only the manifestation as real creates a thought pattern. This thought pattern creates an illusion and opaque screen so we cannot see organic unity between creation and creator. Organic unity of a man, his origin is immortal. It has no beginning and no end.
  6. By knowing oneself we become capable of seeing organic unity between self and creator. As soon as you can see both self and creator in organic unity your thought pattern, complicated and clear, both will disappear.
  7. By seeing self and creator as organic unity, you will be able to see creator and his creation also as an organic unity. With this realisation of self you will know Truth. Misconception will drop.
  8. With this understanding the mind can discriminate between Knowing and Knowledge. You will realise that Forms will go on changing, not the Truth.
  9. With this realisation the energy which is moving towards misconception will start moving towards discriminating mind. You will be able to focus on the permanent and you will see everything as an opportunity and challenge to grow.
  10. Remember, Yoga teaches dying is a very easy thing; it happens in a single moment. Living is the real challenge.
