Integrating Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life: Surrounding to Self

  1. The purpose of human beings is to become Supreme Consciousness, Purusha. Purush means self and Prakriti means surrounding. When yogi starts its journey from gross to self-realisation; surrounding to self. He practises Samyama of Gyanendriya, Karmendriya and Mahabhut.
  2. Samyama is the greatest synthesis of human consciousness, the synthesis of three: dharana, dhyana, samadhi. In dharana, concentration, the object is important because you have to choose one object amidst millions. In dhyana, meditation, consciousness is important; you have to make consciousness a continuous flow. In samadhi the subject is important: the subject has to be dropped. These three together are called samyama. Samyama is the greatest synthesis of human Consciousness.
  3. Gyanendriya means to register the world, Karmendriya means to respond to the world, and Mahabhut means 5 elements. Sound is the first element from which other four elements have come: touch, form, taste and smell.
  4. Yogi will start his journey for self-realisation from gross, from self as a body and circumstances and knowledge as surrounding. Through his Samyama he will start getting gross power. With this power can manifest his intention and strengthen his ego or with the same power he can move towards self-realisation. If he has directed his energy towards ego, he will stop his journey towards self-realisation.
  5. One who directs his energy towards self-realisation he will move on to the next level, of practising Samyama on power over gross subtle, panch prana. Now he will get gross subtle power. With this power he can start getting into miracles to create surroundings according to his desires, to show the common people that he is above them. This way also he is directing his energy to strengthen his gross subtle ego. By doing this he has used energy in the surrounding and in grossworld. It is an obstacle in the journey of self-realisation.
  6. One who has directed his energy towards self-realisation from the gross subtle will now start moving towards the fine subtle level. This is called beej samadhi. He will be practising Samyama on universal intelligence. With this he gets power to change the form, circumstances of self and surroundings according to his desire. This way he is directing the energy towards a fine subtle ego. From the same energy he can choose to go and merge into purusha and become Supreme Consciousness. Which is the ultimate purpose of human beings.
  7. Samyama can give you the energy you can use to gain power or become Supreme Consciousness. It depends on you. If you become Purusha, Supreme Consciousness, your purpose as a human being is fulfilled.
