A resource is anything we get from the environment to meet our needs and desires. It may be any useful information, material or service. Thus any part of natural environment, such as Land, water, air, mineral, forest, wildlife, fish or even human population that man utilise to promote his welfare are regarded as natural resources.
In the particular case of humans, a resources is any form of energy or matter essential for the fulfillment of physiological, socio-economics and cultural needs, both at the individual level and at the community level. The five basic ecological variables: energy, matter, space, time and diversity are some times combinedly called natural resources.
Science could develop the objective world because it takes everything in objective world as resources.
For example some resources such as solar Energy, fresh air , fresh surface water, waste are directly available for use by us. While other resources such as petroleum, iron, underground water are not directly available and their supplies are limited. They become useful to us only with some effort and technology ingenuity. For example, petroleum products can also be used after distillation.

If we take our subjective world, means our emotions, thoughts, etc as resources we can grow spiritually.
Many of us who are practicing meditation, yoga, pranayam etc they have found certain difference in themselves. What is that? They are able to drop the borrowed knowledge and found peace within themselves.
How it works? According to science when your breathing pattern changes, you become clam. If you really look inside of you, you will find that the emotions or thoughts which were there before has become your resources to calm down. This is your personal or spiritual growth.
If you practice regularly meditation, yoga and pranayam you will find that you can use your ego, instead of ego is using you. Ego is very useful tool to coordinate, if we use the ego. But it can become China wall and obstacle if ego uses us.
