Dignity

  1. Comparative: In the swirling currents of life where comparison seems as natural as breathing, we often find ourselves measuring our worth against others.
    • The Bhagavad Gita cautions us that when comparison dictates action, we are straying from our true path – our Dharma – which is unique and incomparable.
    • Comparisons draw us into a relentless cycle of competition, where contentment is forever just beyond reach, for there will always be someone to whom we might look up or look down.
    • Comparison clouds; our true path illuminates.
  2. Ego: Delving deeper, we see the ego thriving on these comparisons, sculpting an identity that relies upon superiority and validation from external measures.
    • Ego is the voice that whispers of entitlement and separation, conjuring a mirage of independence while binding us to the very cycle of comparisons we wish to transcend.
    • The Gita’s wisdom illuminates this trap, urging us to recognize that ego is a poor master, one that clouds Arjuna’s judgement and can lead us astray from our essence.
    • Ego confines, while self-awareness liberates.
  3. Dignity: When we strip away the comparisons and the cravings of the ego, we arrive at the serene shores of dignity, which is our divine birthright, as taught by Krishna.
    • Dignity arises from an inner sanctum that is untouched by worldly measures, for it is an expression of our indomitable spirit, the same spirit that Krishna speaks to within Arjuna.
    • Dignity is apparent in Arjuna’s final resolve to fulfil his duty, not as an act of ego, but as a manifestation of his intrinsic role in the grand design.
    • Dignity: the quiet echo of authenticity.
