Rejoicing in your own-aloneness is what meditation is all about.

Meditation is the art of celebrating your existence beyond the confines of the society, it really is, my friend. You see, we have been programmed by society to think that our happiness is a collective proposition – it depends on relationships, on success as defined by others, on the accumulation of possessions. But meditation, the silent art of introspection and awareness, breaks down these societal constructs. It gently guides you into realising the profound joy of simply being – not as a function of something or someone else, but as a complete entity in itself.

When Osho says “rejoicing in your own-aloneness,” he is inviting you to a dance of self-discovery, a celebration of pure existence. Aloneness is not loneliness; it is a positive state. Loneliness is a lack – a feeling of something missing, a pain. Aloneness is the presence of oneself – complete, content, at peace. It’s the state you come to when you are rooted in your own being, when you do not need the other to define you, to give you contentment, or to make you feel valued.

In meditation, you step back from the incessant chatter of your mind – the mind that is always tugging you this way and that, always creating a desire for more, always making you a prisoner of past regrets and future anxieties. In this stepping back, there is a flowering of aloneness. You are alone, but there is no loneliness in it. It is your moment of pure authenticity.

Rejoicing in this aloneness brings a sense of liberation. You become like a lotus flower – the mud of societal expectations cannot touch you – you are rooted, yet above it, untouched. This state of meditation is not something you can force; it arises naturally when you are relaxed and aware, not desiring something else to complete you.

Treasure this aloneness, celebrate it; it is the very ground of freedom. It is in this soil that the flowers of creativity, of love, of playfulness, bloom – not forced, but spontaneous, not as a duty, but as an overflow of joy. And remember, such joy is infectious – it can spread to others not through preaching, but through the sheer force of your presence.
