To live in the present the basic need is to withdraw yourself from the past, to withdraw yourself from the future.
Living in the present moment requires mindfulness and awareness. When we are by thoughts of the past or about the future, we are not fully present in the current moment.
By withdrawing yourself from the past, it means letting go of any lingering regrets, resentment, or nostalgia that may be holding you back. Dwelling on the past can prevent you from fully experiencing and enjoying what is happening right now.
Similarly, withdrawing yourself from the future involves releasing concerns about what might happen or trying to control outcomes that are beyond your reach. Constantly worrying about the future can cause anxiety and prevent you from savouring the present moment.
Practising mindfulness, meditation, and being fully engaged in whatever you are doing can help you stay grounded in the present. By focusing on the now, you can experience life more fully, make better decisions, and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the moment you are in.
