Your absence is the presence of the divine, your presence is the absence of the divine.
The essence of the concept expressed in the quote “Your absence signifies the presence of the divine, while your presence signifies the absence of the divine” reveals the profound idea that one’s ego and self-centeredness act as barriers to experiencing the divine essence. By being overly engaged with oneself and allowing the ego to dominate, there is no space left within to connect with the divine presence that is always around us.
In spiritual practice, it is essential to recognise that a state of self-centeredness and identification with the ego can lead one to miss the divine presence that is omnipresent. The equation is clear: when a person is fully present in their egotistical self, they miss the opportunity to attune to the divine energy. However, in a state of absence from self, where the ego dissolves through practices like meditation, the divine reveals itself abundantly as the only reality that exists.
The seeker’s path involves transcending self-identity to create a space within where the sense of “I” fades away, allowing the divine presence to manifest. This state of non-presence or absence is characterised by being unfocused, uncentered, and free from the limitations of the ego. In this emptiness, the divine can be perceived, always present and waiting to be acknowledged.
The shift from self-consciousness to self-unconsciousness signifies a shift from individual identification to a connection with the universal whole. In unself-consciousness, one exists as pure consciousness without the sense of a separate self, merging with the divine essence that underlies all existence. This transformation leads to a realisation of oneness with the divine, where the individual becomes an integral part of the cosmic unity, transcending mere individuality to embody the divine essence itself.
