You deserve all happiness even if you’re not use to it.
You are entitled to all the happiness life has to offer, even if it feels unfamiliar to you.
To elaborate on the quote, “If you suffer, it is because of you. If you feel blissful, it is because of you. Nobody else is responsible, only you and you alone. You are your hell and your heaven too,” it underscores the concept that our emotional states and overall well-being are largely self-determined. Happiness is a mental state that we can choose to embrace, irrespective of external circumstances.
To understand this better, consider examining the sources of your misery. Reflect on these moments and identify the factors that contribute to your distress. Similarly, observe those rare occasions when you permit yourself to experience joy. Analyse the differences between these states. Often, when we are miserable, it is because we conform to societal norms and expectations. Society tends to respect and even revere those who appear solemn and serious, sometimes to the point of sainthood. This societal validation can lead to a life devoid of joy, as misery becomes a badge of honour.
However, this perspective is fundamentally flawed. True happiness comes from within and is not contingent upon societal approval. It is essential to challenge the notion that joy is sinful or hedonistic. Embrace the moments of happiness and recognise that you have the power to create your own emotional landscape. You are both the architect of your suffering and the creator of your bliss.
