Get comfortable, being uncomfortable!
Embrace the Discomfort.
To delve deeper into this concept, consider the following: Embrace the state of discomfort. It is more beneficial to remain in discomfort than to seek immediate relief. When you experience unease, stay with that unease without rushing to find explanations. Avoid creating justifications or rationalisations. Accept the discomfort as a natural part of your experience, and over time, you will begin to appreciate the inherent mystery of life. As you do so, the discomfort will gradually dissipate, and you will not become burdened with superficial knowledge.
Becoming a scholar or an expert can sometimes place you further from the truth. History has shown that even those who have erred have found truth, but scholars often remain distanced from it. This is because the accumulation of knowledge can corrupt one’s understanding. The more innocent and open your perspective, untainted by preconceived theories, the closer you are to absorbing the truth.
Strive to maintain innocence rather than accumulating knowledge. Embrace ignorance, as it allows you to accept life’s mysteries. Life is too vast and complex to be fully explained by any doctrine or theory, whether it be Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jain, or Buddhist. All attempts to encapsulate life in explanations have ultimately failed.
Therefore, do not prioritise convenience over truth. Recognise that truth is inherently mysterious. Avoid labelling it, as doing so offers no real understanding and merely shields you from the truth. This defensive stance is counterproductive. Instead, be open and vulnerable. If the truth makes you uncomfortable, accept that discomfort. This is the price one must pay to truly grasp the essence of truth.
