Go for whatever makes you happy.
The pursuit of happiness is the very essence of the existence of life. When Osho says, “Go for whatever makes you happy,” he is not talking about a superficial or momentary pleasure. It is not just about the immediate gratification of the senses, but a deeper, more intrinsic joy that comes from fulfilling your potential, your being.
To expand on this, happiness that arises from the fulfilment of your nature is the true happiness. Each person has an individuality, a unique essence, and it is through the expression of this uniqueness that genuine happiness arises. Most people look outside themselves for happiness, but that is a pursuit that is ever fleeting. True happiness comes from within, from being in harmony with your own nature.
When you move towards what makes you happy, do so with awareness. Be conscious of your actions and their consequences not just upon the self, but also upon others and the world. The happiness that comes at the expense of others’ well-being or that causes harm is not true happiness, but a form of self-delusion.
Therefore, what Osho is implying is to go for that which makes you joyous, that which makes you celebrate your own existence, that which makes you devoutly dance to the rhythms of life. However, always remember that this journey of happiness is delicate and must be walked upon with a deep sensitivity towards all life. True happiness comes from love and understanding, from creating, sharing, and contributing to the life around you.
In your pursuit of happiness, listen to your inner voice, the voice that comes from your centre. That voice will guide you towards actions and paths that are in harmony with your intrinsic nature. It will lead you to creativity, to love, to a sense of oneness with existence. When you are in tune with this inner voice, every step will be a dance, every word a song, and every moment a celebration. This is the art of living, and this is what Osho means when he says, “Go for whatever makes you happy.”
