The science of blood is called Hematology. Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment and prevention of diseases related to blood. It involves that affects the production of the blood and its components, such as blood cells hemoglobin, blood protein, bone marrow, platelets, blood vessels, spleen, and the mechanism of coagulation.

Components of blood: Blood has four main components namely,

1. Plasma: Plasma is the  yellowish liquid component of blood and transports blood cells throughout the body along with nutrients, waste products, antibodies, clotting proteins chemical messengers such as harmonies, and proteins that helps maintains body’s fluid balance.

2. Red blood cells: Red blood cells, commonly known as RCB, carry the protein haemoglobin that transports oxygen from lungs to the rest of body.

3. White blood cells: White blood cells,WBC, are primarily responsible for protecting the body from infection.

4. Platelets: Platelets are  tiny round cells that helps in clotting when there is cut or injury leading to bleeding. Cuts and scrapes break blood blood vessels .The platelets reaches a blood vessel that’s been broken ,it sends chemical signals that make other nearby platelets start to stick together inside the bone marrow.

Inside the vessel forming a plug to cease more blood loss. This process is called clotting.

The process of formation of blood in human being is Hemopoiesis. Hemopoiesis takes place in the bone marrow. Bone marrow is the goopy stuff in our bones. Bone marrow makes the red, white blood cells and platelets. Like the entire human body the formation of the blood in the bone marrow is the wonder plasma is mostly water which is absorbed from the intestines. What you drink and eat with the liver supplying important proteins. When we put all these ingredients together blood is formed. It’s a important part of circulatory system and the body with the heart pumping the blood and carried in the veins.Through veins and arteries it is carried from head to toes.
