There were two neighbours, and elderly person and a young one. Both decided to plant the same tree in their compounds, take care of it and see how they grow. The elderly gave his tree just enough water and fertiliser so that it does not wither. The youngster, however, gave it more than enough water and fertilizer.
As a result, the youngster’s tree grew fast and tall, while the other tree was slow in growing and short.
One day, there was a storm at night. In the morning, they both came out to see what was damaged, and saw that the youngster’s tree had fallen while the other tree stood there, as it is. The youngster asked the elder “How come?”
The elder replied, “I gave it just enough water and food to sustain it, and for more the roots went down into the earth searching for food, which it helped it have a strong base. You gave it all it needed, so it did not have to ‘search’ and was weak.”
This is the role of a good teacher. He sows the seed in the mind of the student, gives him enough impetus to go searching for more, which helps him grow knowledgeable. The sad part is, the students today want everything served to them on a platter, not willing to do the searching themselves. Just the reason why they have a weak knowledge base. I have observed this amongst student of energy healing who come to me for help. They stick to just what their Master taught them and refuse to explore or accept anything beyond that. If only they understood this…..
Think it’s not only to plant but to ourselves also. For me if I eat little less or just according to my hunger I remain whole day more energetic then if I over eat. When I overeat I become lethargic and sleepy. Same applies in all the areas of life. It’s about being in middle.
Today every parents faces big challenge to raise their children. As per the present circumstances demand and opportunities all the parents educated or uneducated faces big challenge to raise their children with modern education and ethics to be taught simultaneously.
Here comes the old man’s watering the plants. Give a thought with all the facility you give your child for education, with it how much you are giving them opportunity to think own their own. Either you are giving them thoughts or teachers are giving them thoughts or from anywhere they get information but they get readymade answers. They don’t get chance to think own their own.
For example if they require certain facility you give little more than their requirement. Here is key. Instead of that try some time to give little less facility and watch how he can manage within that resources and achieve his requirements. Initially it will be painful and difficult for both of you for parents and children. Parents will face their ego and identity, children on other hand also face difficulty with just little short of the facility provided by parents they need to learn their own which cannot be taught, no one will give you any thoughts how you can achieve your requirements with just little less facility. In the process they will learn and create habit of managing their resources.
They watch that other children they are comfortable because they get all the facility or more facility and they are in comfortable zone for their education, and they are not. They are uncomfortable for just a little less facility.
When parents becomes unreasonable with their children they are stacking many things, their future, ego, relationship, identity, etc. in that moment we will not know how the child will take it. Be compassionate with child make them understand that it’s not about we cannot give but it’s something else. We are with you, we will not allow you to fall but try it, manage it and we are open with all your suggestions. During the time when you have limited resources you will be uncomfortable but if you manage with that the enthusiasm you will get it that we cannot give you.
Child will also learn to take challenge and when consciously we take challenges we sharp our awareness. Enlighten people says that person of awareness don’t need Morality.
Learning from story Just Enough: Little Less
Just to give our children Little Less we need to understand few things. I will be writing regarding freedom in this week. Unless we understand the freedom and out of freedom and understanding giving Little Less to our children will help them to grow in their awareness.
Freedom has two sides and if you have only one side of it, a single side, you will feel freedom mixed with sadness. So you have to understand the whole psychology of freedom.
The first side is freedom from: from nationality, from a certain church, from a certain race, from a certain political ideology. This is the first part of freedom, the foundation of freedom. It is always from something. Once you have attained this freedom, you will feel very light and very good and very happy. And for the first time you will start rejoicing in your own individuality, because your individuality was covered with all those things that you have become free of.
But this is only one half and then there will come sadness, because the other half is missing. Freedom from is fulfilled, but freedom for what? Freedom in itself has no meaning, unless it is freedom for something, something creative – freedom to sculpt, freedom to dance, freedom to create music, poetry, painting. Unless your freedom turns into a creative realization, you will feel sad. Because you will see that you are free: your chains are broken, you no longer have any handcuffs, you no longer have any chains, you don’t have any prison, you are standing under the starry night, completely free, but where to go? Then comes a sudden sadness. What path to choose? Up to now there was no question of going anywhere – you were imprisoned. Your whole consciousness was concentrated on how to get free, your only anxiety was how to get free. Now that you are free, a new kind of problem has to be encountered. What to do now that you are free?
Just freedom in itself does not mean anything, unless you choose a creative path. Either you go deeper into meditation for self-realization – or if you have a certain kind of talent that has not been allowed to develop because of your fetters – you could not compose music because your hands were in chains, you could not dance because your feet were in chains. If you have a talent to be a dancer, then be a dancer. Then your freedom is complete, then the circle is complete.
Freedom from and freedom for – this is not something new that you are facing. It is being faced by every person who struggles first for freedom and then suddenly finds, ‘Now that I am free, what am I going to do?’ Up to now, he was so occupied, so engaged, so very busy. Even in his dreams he was thinking only of freedom. And he has never thought about what he is going to do when he will get freedom.
What has happened is beautiful. But something more is needed. You have to become a creator. You have to find some creativity that fulfills your freedom, otherwise the freedom is empty. You need either to create something or to discover something. Either bring your potential to actuality or go inwards to find yourself, but do something with your freedom.
Freedom is only an opportunity for you. It is not in itself the goal. It simply gives you the whole opportunity to do whatever you want to do. Now you are free and you are feeling sad, because you have not used this opportunity yet. Meditation will do, music will do, sculpture will do, dancing will do, love will do. But do something with your freedom. Just don’t sit with your freedom, otherwise you will become sad.
