Perceptions Are Limited – In Gita Verse 13.17 Although the Supersoul appears to be divided among all beings, He is never divided. He is situated as one. Although He is the maintainer of every living entity, it is to be understood that He devours and develops all.

In the serenity of the Bhagavad Gita’s wisdom, Verse 13.17, we encounter the Supersoul, exceedingly singular in form yet manifesting as the entirety of creation. The Supersoul appears to be spread amongst the myriad beings, but in essence, remains indivisibly one – a sustainer that thrives within all life, consuming and creating in a ceaseless dance.

Ponder the journey of a seed: it takes root in the nurturing womb of the Earth, ascends as a lofty tree, and bestows upon the world its profusion of seeds. Such is the cyclical play of existence – though it seems to be partitioned, the essence remains one. Each seed, though seemingly a separate entity, encompasses within its tiny shell the potential to unfurl as a grand tree and disseminate life anew.

Krishna beckons us to recognise our innate capability to realise the Supersoul – that boundless essence that is neither fractured nor divisible but an eternal, infinite truth.

Drawing insights from The Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, consider the contemplation:

‘O SHAKTI, EACH PARTICULAR PERCEPTION IS LIMITED, DISAPPEARING INTO OMNIPOTENCE.’

Our perceptions are akin to a mere glimmer of truth. When our eyes meet the sky, we witness but a sliver of its magnificence. This perceived limitation is not of the sky but of our own instruments of perception – the eyes, the focus. By expanding our awareness, we can comprehend that these boundaries we perceive dissolve into the boundless.

Everything you perceive or feel carries the weight of limitation. It is we who impose division upon the indivisible, segmenting our homes, our lands, and even our nations with imaginary delineations shaped by the human psyche. The Earth beneath us doesn’t recognise these distinctions; it is one, devoid of partitions.

In your daily walk upon this Earth:

Recognise that Perceptions Are Limited: When you cross paths with another, look beyond the superficial to the profound depths that connect you at a spiritual level.

Embrace Unity in Diversity: Every soul you encounter, every narrative shared with you, is an echo of the greater cosmic symphony. Amidst the seeming tumult of diversity, maintain a steady vision of unity.

Pursue a life Beyond Judgment: Drop the veil of division. See your fellow beings not as others but as integral threads in the grand tapestry of existence.

The story of the asylum straddling the India-Pakistan border, divided by a wall erected in the minds of men, serves as a poignant metaphor for our own constructed separations. These divides are of our making – shadows that vanish when exposed to the light of higher consciousness.

To weave this wisdom into the fabric of our days:

1. In decision-making, heed the intangible echoes of your inner truth as well as the rational whisperings of the intellect.

2. In relationships, perceive others as part of the extensive ocean of consciousness, where undercurrents merge and waves intersect.

3. Let your life be a continuous meditation. Challenge your perceptions, ask of every object and every encounter, “What lies unseen beyond this form?”

By living with such meditative intent, we come to embody Krishna’s profound declaration, experiencing the indivisible unity of the Supersoul, the ultimate truth that liberates and unites us all.
