Own Happiness – In Gita Verse 13.33 The sky, due to its subtle nature, does not mix with anything, although it is all-pervading. Similarly, the soul situated in Brahman vision does not mix with the body, though situated in that body.

As you step into the tapestry of words woven from the immortal wisdom of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, it is as if you traverse the very soul of existence – unblemished, unfettered, and sovereign. This ancient knowledge beckons us to welcome and reverence the sanctity of our own individuality, and in turn, honour that of others. However, the artistry of life’s richness does not end with the mere acknowledgment of this individuality. It extends deeper into the realm of non-interference with our internal processes. By cultivating a sacred space of mutual respect and personal sovereignty, we nourish the roots of our spiritual growth, allowing it to flourish into its fullest expression.

In seeking bliss, we venture not outward into the contingent maelstrom of the world, but inward, to the sanctuary of our innermost being – a vibrant spring within a hallowed grove, unswayed by external currents. Through the silent eloquence of meditation, we immerse ourselves in the quietude that nestles our inherent bliss – a ceaseless effervescence that is independent, without the need for external stimuli or occasions.

As we embrace this self-arising joy, an epiphany gently unfurls within, revealing that joy’s source lies within and not beyond our being. This insight prompts a question of profound simplicity and depth: If we possess the capacity to be harbingers of joy for others, why tether our serenity to that which is beyond us? This pivotal moment draws us away from external dependencies and guides us towards the ever-present inner flame of our being.

The journey then evolves as we come to an understanding that our own inner tumult – be it critical self-talk or unrealistic expectations we set upon ourselves – is yet another form of interference. Recognising that the principle of non-interference extends to how we engage with our inner voice advances our spiritual journey. It allows us to accept our inner vicissitudes with the same grace and non-intrusion that we extend to the external world.

With hearts brimming with self-respect and respect for others, embracing the natural ebb and flow of life without attachment or aversion, we carve a path for genuine spiritual awakening. It is a delicate dance of acceptance, where the soul does not attempt to orchestrate the body’s rhythm, and the mind comes to rest in quiet observance – witnessing the captivating dance of human experience with tranquillity.

Grasping this concept of spiritual individuality, we recognise the futility in being vessels channelling fulfilment based on others’ blueprints of desire. The sky remains unchallenged by the clouds that glide across its expanse, and so too must we remain undisturbed by the shifting expectations imposed upon us by others. To engage fully with these demands is to stroll down a path that leads away from our inner sanctum toward a space where joy is stillborn and contentment remains fleeting.

The invitation is not to engage in the endless pursuit of happiness which hinges on the transient. Instead, we are called to immerse ourselves in a state of inner bliss, transcending all dualities. Observing life’s colourful tapestry with detached serenity, we come to know these experiences as transient hues against the vast, unalterable landscape of our true selves.

The beauty of genuine bliss lies in its self-originating nature – like an eternal spring in an undisturbed forest, existing in purity, unaltered by the outer world’s changes. Within the solitude of meditation, we peel back the layers of our worldly engagements, coming into contact with our own vibrant essence of joy – a joy not reliant on the accolades or adversities of life.

Embracing sovereignty over our own happiness – viewing it as a reflection of inner abundance, ready to be shared but not dependent on reciprocation – raises an essential contemplation. If we can ignite joy within others, surely we hold the spark that can illuminate our inner landscape. And so, we ought to wait no longer for external stimuli to bring forth what is already an indomitable flame within our spiritual core.

As this profound realisation settles within our hearts, we liberate ourselves from the quest for externally sourced happiness. We embody the essence of the sun, which illuminates not out of necessity, but simply because illumination is its intrinsic nature.

Heeding Krishna’s guidance, we embrace the euphoria that arises from within and step out of the intricate maze of expectations. In tending to our inner garden of happiness, we forge an intimate connection with our soul, which resonates with the infinite Supersoul – the omnipresent fount of all existence.

Let us then pledge to honour our individuality, to tenderly care for it, and through this very act of reverence, embark upon a spiritual odyssey that frees, transcends, and unites our soul with the eternal cosmic dance.
