Visible Soul – In Gita Verse 15.10 The foolish cannot understand how a living entity can quit his body, nor can they understand what sort of body he enjoys under the spell of the modes of nature. But one whose eyes are trained in knowledge can see all this.
In the echoing halls of the Bhagavad Gita verse 15.10, Krishna imparts a wisdom that eludes the grasp of the uninitiated: the nature of the soul, bound by the trappings of material existence. This verse strikes at the heart of ignorance, revealing that only through the eyes of true knowledge can one witness the soul’s departure, its journey, and its entanglement within the web of nature’s modes.
In this dance of existence, the body is not just a vessel; it is the visible soul, a testament to the divine artist’s craftsmanship. The soul is the invisible body, a silent partner in the dialogue of being. To understand this, one must become a knower, a seer – witnessing life’s ballet in the quiet auditorium of awareness. It is here, in this space of silence, that the whispers of the body are heard.
Krishna does not speak of a battleground but an intimate conversation between the soul and the flesh. In this dialogue, austerity is not the harsh cracking of a whip, but a fine art, a harmonious collaboration with the body, not a subjugation of it. To fight the body is to fight oneself – a needless civil war where both sides are inevitably defeated.
The body is the marvel of existence, a microcosm of the cosmos itself. In it, earth, water, fire, air, and ether converge to create a living, breathing testament to life’s miraculous potential. To stand in awe and respect for this wondrous creation, to love and appreciate its profound complexity – is indeed the pathway to unity and integration.
And yet, humankind has been misled: taught to battle the very temple that houses their essence, taught to see it as a vile enemy instead of a blessed ally. This division sanctions the ego’s rule and festers the seeds of conflict. How, then, can one transcend lower nature when trapped in an endless struggle with oneself?
The journey is to harmonise; to build a bridge of love and respect between body and soul. For in this alliance lies strength, not in division. Rebellion against the body begets only more rebellion. Embrace it, and it becomes a partner in the sacred ascent toward higher consciousness.
The ancient traditions, mired in misguided asceticism, preached antagonism, but Krishna whispers a different tune – one of friendship and unity. In this symphony, the mind becomes a willing participant in meditation, not a disruptive force. There is no need to conquer, only to understand, to accept, and to align.
Understanding precedes meditation; clarity blossoms in the aftermath of unity. There echoes a call for a fundamental return to simplicity – to align with nature, to cultivate compassion, and to engage with mindfulness. This resounding message invites a celebration of the body as a sacred vessel, an integration of the self with the harmony of existence, and a communion with the divine pulse that animates all life. It is in this simple yet profound understanding that the journey inward unfolds, leading to an inner sanctum where peace and clarity reign supreme.
A call to celebrate the immense potential of the human form, to cherish the mind as an invaluable asset, and to usher in an era of peace and understanding, both within and without.
In honouring the body, you are honouring the divine; in listening to the body, you are heeding the silent wisdom of the cosmos itself. Respect the body, respect the mind, and embark on a path of wholeness that leads to the ultimate realisation of the self.
As Krishna teaches, respect your body, love your body, listen to your body. It is in this presence, this awareness, that the divine play of life unfolds, revealing the sacredness of existence in the temple of your being.
