Integrating Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life: Mind and Breath

  1. Three techniques for quietening the mind. Breath, 5 senses – Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch, and focusing on inner light.
  2. Mind and breath are connected and have rhythm with each other. When you slow down the breath, the fluctuating mind will start to calm down, anger will be reduced and energy will be available to our body. Pranayama techniques help in regulation of breath and the energy which is moving towards the obstacles will start moving towards self-awareness.
  3. By product of Pranayama practice is healing power to self and others. This is mystical power and obstacles on the way of self-realisation. One who stops at healing for self and others he will miss the bus. The energy which has life force in it can give you rebirth. Use the energy for self-realisation so you give birth to yourself.
  4. We can bring our awareness and calm down our mind through our 5 senses – Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch – by meditating on the senses organ to which it is connected. You will become very very sensitive. Your senses will allow you to be soft and fluid so that you can experience the Universe through all your senses. The Universe is intangible but when you become sensitive the Universe will be throbbing in you as tangible.
  5. By practising this technique we get mystical power over our senses which is called ESP. With the power of ESP we need to become aware and alert towards self so that our energy moves for sensitivity and not for sensuousness. Be sensitive but don’t be sensuous. Be loving, but get out of lust. Lust and sensuousness are animals; love and sensitivity are human.
  6. Focusing on inner light is the third technique to calm down the mind. Initially we need to start from the outer light like candle light or any object. When we take support of outer light it is called Tratak meditation. Tratak meditation means focusing on the outer light or object continuously looking at objects and constantly concentrating with relaxation. In this meditation we have to remember that while focusing on outer light or object it needs to be in RELAXATION.
  7. By practising this meditation we get mystical power to convince our judgments through perception to others. Be aware. This meditation is to realise our judgments regarding perception. Energy which is available to you can create your own path in this temporary world. Where everything is changing and your judgements are from the past. So it will be an obstacle to create your own path and move towards self-realisation.
