There is no need to have a guide. If you are simple, then simplicity is enough.
Let us delve into the essence of simplicity, and the panoramic understanding that comes with it. The need for a guide often arises from the complexity of the mind and the intricate structures it weaves. The mind is a complex labyrinth and it is forever seeking – searching for meaning, for guidance, for enlightenment. In this perpetual quest, it often overlooks the purest truths that lie not outside, but within the very core of our being.
Maybe you have come across a beautiful flower standing alone in a field. It is unaccompanied, with no guide to instruct it on how to bloom or how to spread its fragrance. Yet, it blooms effortlessly, guided by an intrinsic, simple intelligence that is a part of its very existence. Similarly, if you are simple, your intrinsic nature, the fundamental intelligence that orchestrates life, becomes apparent and guides you. This intelligence doesn’t require complex ideologies or external authorities; it flows through a state of being that is aligned with the natural order.
Simplicity is a state of clarity and purity. When your thoughts are uncomplicated and your heart is unburdened by the multitude of societal conditionings, you begin to see things as they truly are. In this state of simplicity, each moment is your guide, each experience a lesson, and each emotion a pointer towards a deeper understanding of yourself and existence.
This quote doesn’t dismiss the value of teachers or guides altogether; their presence can certainly be beneficial. But it emphasises that your ultimate guide is your own being when it is in a natural, simple state – a state uncorrupted by unnecessary complexities, desires, and ambitions that cloud your judgement and perception.
When you shed the excess, the basics of life become clear. You start recognising that happiness is not in the accumulation but in the appreciation, peace is not in the conquering but in the contentment, and wisdom is not the accumulation of knowledge but the dissolution of ignorance.
So, in simplicity, there is profound wisdom and an inherent guidance. Your essence knows the path, and by simplifying your life and your thoughts, you allow that inner wisdom, which knows no confusion or conflict, to surface and lead the way.
