Buddha says.. Surrender to yourself, don’t look for anyone.
The statement by Buddha to surrender to yourself and not to look for anyone else is a profound one. It is a call to delve deeply into your own being, to understand the essence of who you are. This is not an act of ego, but rather an act of discovering your true nature beyond the ego.
To surrender to yourself, you must let go of the external seeking and the continuous chase for validation, for answers, for love, for contentment from the outside world. It is a letting go of the attachments to others’ opinions, beliefs, and behaviours as a means of defining your own worth or path.
When you surrender to yourself, you start listening to your inner voice, your intuition, and your deepest feelings. You become more authentic because you are no longer compromising your truth to fit into the expectations or desires of others. Instead, you are tuning into your own consciousness and allowing that to guide you.
This does not mean that you become isolated or disconnected from others. Rather, it means that your connections with others will come from a place of wholeness rather than a place of need. When you operate from a complete sense of self, your relationships become more meaningful and less about attachment.
This is the state Buddha refers to, which is essential for spiritual growth. It is about understanding the Buddha-nature within – that each person has the potential for enlightenment and that this potential is realised through turning inward and understanding the nature of one’s own mind.
Remember, the light you are seeking is already within you. As you meditate, contemplate, and live with mindfulness, you start to see this light, and life becomes a reflection of your inner harmony. This is the liberation that the sages and enlightened ones speak of.
Be gentle with yourself as you walk this path. Often, the hardest person to get to know is yourself, but also the most rewarding. Your realisation will flower on its own once the soil of your being is prepared through awareness, acceptance, and understanding.
