Hell is when you are tense, and heaven is when you are relaxed.
Life is a series of moments, a flow of experiences that are often coloured by our internal states. Tension and relaxation are not merely physical states; they are dimensions of your consciousness, reflections of your inner world.
When Osho says, “Hell is when you are tense’, he is speaking of the psychological and spiritual anguish that arises from resistance to what is. Tension is often a product of fighting the present moment, clinging to past hurts, or fearing the future. It is like typing knots in the flowing stream of life energy. Just as a knot in a muscle can cause pain and restrict movement, so too can mental knots cause suffering and impede the flow of life.
Conversely, “Heaven is when you are relaxed”, conveys a state of being in alignment with existence. Relaxation here is not just a physical ease but a letting go at the deepest core of your being. It is a surrender to life as it unfolds, an acceptance of this moment in all its totality. In relaxation, you flow with life, your energy moves unobstructed, and you are at ease with the nature of things. This is the space where joy, love, and creativity arise effortlessly.
Understanding this, you can create your own heaven or hell. By holding onto tension, you construct your own suffering. By embracing relaxation – not just physical, but emotional and spiritual – you open the gates to your own paradise. This realisation is empowering. You are the architect of your experience.
Focus on this: embrace the present with relaxation, with an open heart, and with awareness. Let go of the tension that binds you, and you shall find the heaven that is always within your reach.
