The proportion of your love is the proportion of your being.
To love is not just an action but a state of being. When Osho says the proportion of your love is the proportion of your being, it means that your capacity to love is a direct reflection of your existence, your essence, and your consciousness.
Your being, in its totality, is like a vast sky. Love is like the sun that illuminates this sky, and the brighter it shines, the more alive and vibrant your world becomes. Your ability to love unconditionally and without bounds is indicative of a vast and deep consciousness. A small consciousness is like a small, muddy pond, too easily disturbed and clouded, capable of only a tiny ripple of love.
To expand your being is to deepen your capacity for love. To love deeply, without possession, without expectation, is the ultimate freedom. This love then does not confine either you or the object of your affection – it creates a space in which both can grow.
Therefore, if one wishes to grow in love, one must grow in being. Meditation is the key. It is the process of dissolving the small ego-self that limits and conditions love. As you meditate, as you become more aware and more present, the ego dissolves and you find that love flows naturally and effortlessly. Your being becomes full of love, and this love spills over into every action, every word, and every thought.
You then do not ‘do’ love, you ‘are’ love.
So, exist much, be much, and you will have much love. Exist more and you will have more love. Be total in your love, for love is the language of your being and it is only through your being that you can reach the divine.
