Life is an alchemy of awareness. The statement you’ve just embraced — “Wherever one is full of gratitude, there is a temple” — is a gateway to such alchemy. To be full of gratitude is to resonate with the harmony of existence, to be in tune with the intrinsic beauty that permeates every aspect of reality.
When I use the word ‘temple’, it is not confined to the conventional definition of a structure made of stone and wood designated for worship. The temple I am speaking of is a sacred space, and that sacredness is created by the very quality of gratitude.
Gratitude is an acknowledgement of the interconnectedness of all things. It is recognition of the dance of existence — the give and take with life that sustains us. When one is truly grateful, ego dissolves, and within that space, there is a profound sense of reverence, a devotional quality that is not directed towards a particular deity or entity, but towards existence itself.
In gratitude, you find that temples are not places you go to, but spaces you create within yourself. It is an inner shrine, a place where every breath becomes a prayer, every action a ritual and every moment an offering. When one carries this temple within, one does not need to search for sacredness; one lives it. The ordinary becomes extraordinary, and each interaction becomes an opportunity to celebrate the divine.
Expand your heart with gratitude, and you expand your very being into a temple. You become a living sanctuary of awareness and love. And in this space of sacred recognition, the entire cosmos sings with you, dances with you. It is here, in the presence of this inner sanctum, where true worship occurs — not borne out of fear or desire for some divine favor, but from the simple, profound joy of being an inseparable part of this mysterious, beautiful existence.
So, dear one, create a temple within your heart through the profound act of being grateful, and you shall always be in a sacred space.
