In your silence, when there are no words, no language, nobody else is present, you are getting in tune with existence.
Silence is not merely the absence of sound. It is a profound state of consciousness. When Osho speaks of silence, he is not referring to the mere cessation of chatter or noise; he is talking about an inner stillness, a tranquillity that transcends the mundane busyness of life. In such moments of true silence, you are not just quiet on the outside, you are quiet within. The mind’s incessant chatter, the continuous traffic of thoughts, memories, desires, and fears ceases to occupy the centre stage of your being.
Without words and language, the barriers between you and existence begin to dissolve. Language is a tool that often separates, categorises, and limits. It is how we define and differentiate ourselves from one another and from the world around us. But in the state of inner silence, these artificial constructs fall away. In this silence, there is no ‘you’ separate from the rest of existence. There is no dialogue, no discussion, no debate – only a profound unity with all there is.
In such sacred silence, there is a communion with existence. It is not a communion mediated by priests or scriptures, concepts or philosophies. It is a direct, immediate, and intimate merging with the is-ness of life. Here, in the heart of silence, there is a deep resonance – a knowing that transcends the intellectual understanding, a wordless wisdom that is felt in the very core of your being.
To get in tune with existence is to become aware of the harmony of the universe. Just as every note in a piece of music has its place, and when played in harmony creates beauty, so too does every part of existence have its place, and in silence, you can experience this harmonious interplay.
Therefore, seek out these moments of silence. Meditate upon them, immerse yourself in them, and allow the music of existence to play through the instrument of your being. Remember, it is in the gap between the notes that the music is truly created. It is in the spaces, the emptiness, the silence, that the dance of life truly happens.
