The Pathway To An Abundant Life
Many spiritual teachers believe non-resistance is the key to wholesome living, that it streamlines the pathway to an abundant life. The Buddhists practice non-resistance, or Ahimsa. Today, non-resistance is gravely misunderstood. Yet, it is the most important ingredient in manifesting abundance. So, what is non-resistance, anyway?
Non-resistance does not mean becoming a doormat for others, to let them treat you wrong. Resistance is living under the “shoulds” and the “oughts” of things about which we can do little (here is ego, again). When we focus on the aspects of how things should have been, or how someone must have treated us, when we rely on the so-called norms of human society, when we cannot accept things as they are, we are being resistant (and more than a little egotistical).
Only a thinking of lack can come out of resistance. Imagine you are a sales person and think of this scenario in a typical day of your life: You are looking forward to a deal, but to your dismay, something goes wrong and you do not make that sale. You notice how your competitor swayed that key client away from you. You feel jealousy, anger, exhaustion, doubt and loss. In that moment, you operate from a place of lack, and because your thoughts point toward the loss of great opportunity, you feel deprived of enough opportunity coming your way.
Rather than acting out of lack-based thoughts, why not accept it as is? Rather than assuming you have lost once-in-a-lifetime chance, why not expect more, bigger and better opportunities are on their way? Non-resistance works magic because you come from a place of abundance in which everyone has more than enough. Resistance, however, creates more lack in your life because it sprouts from attention to lack. Attention to lack creates more of lack. In contrast, attention to abundance bestows abundance. Remember that the universe is an abundant place to live in — only one needs to know how to pick up the right fruits on the way. If you keep looking for spoiled or rotten fruits, you will keep finding more of the same. When judging others, remember: what you see has more to do with you then with them. When being judged, be sure to acknowledge this fact and remain. Do not respond. This would not be “right action” as it is clearly misdirected.
To practice non-resistance, you need to acknowledge that plenty is available: plenty of perfect relationships, plenty of money, plenty of healthy living, plenty of love and friendships and plenty of success that awaits you. Just as a seed needs adequate soil, sunlight and water for growth, your life-manifestations need ample thoughts soaked in the tonic of non-resistance and thankfulness for what you have. When you are thankful, you are allowing the flow into your life and operating from a mindset of gratefulness. Soon thereafter, you find your seed of life growing into a full bloom. Remember: All the peace of mind and all the enriching contents that your heart seeks are just around the corner. All it takes is focus and right action upon the nudges. Be gracious, be open, be humble, then intend, declare and detach. You will manifest your desires.
