Constant Change – In Gita Verse 15.3-4 The real form of this tree cannot be perceived in this world. No one can understand where it ends, where it begins, or where its foundation is. But with determination one must cut down this strongly rooted tree with the weapon of detachment. Thereafter, one must seek that place from which, having gone, one never returns, and there surrender to that Supreme Personality of Godhead from whom everything began and from whom everything has extended since time immemorial.
Life resonates with the whispers of infinity, an unbroken expanse that transcends all conventional ideas of start and finish. In this verse, Krishna enlightens us that existence is a perpetual cycle, morphing from one state to the next with remarkable fluidity, and yet its core remains unaltered, steadfast through the relentless march of epochs.
Change greets us at every juncture, serving as life’s only constant, shaping the multifaceted tapestry of existence. Through this incessant change, we come to understand that the dance of creation is less about birth and demise and more about eternal transformation – an indomitable play of energy that maintains its core even as its external manifestations evolve.
Our understanding often seeks shape and structure, but the true form of life eludes those constraints, existing in a realm beyond our sensory perceptions. The vast cosmos and the mystery of existence beckon us to seek knowledge not through what we can see and touch but through the inner wisdom that embraces the unknown and the unseen.
This reality challenges our linear perception, confronting us with the profound truth that existence is infinite, stretching far beyond our temporal framework. Recognising that continuity is the foundation upon which the universe operates, we discard the limiting belief in creation as a finite event.
As humans, we often grapple with the concept of creation as an emergence from the void, a notion that stumbles upon its own inherent paradox – how can we reconcile the birth of something from nothing? Such reflections lead us toward an awakening: existence, in its purest, defies the conventions of logical constructs. It embraces both the soul and matter, not as separate entities but as unique expressions of a singular, divine reality.
This prompts us to rethink the duality that traditionally divides the creator from the creation, the divine from the temporal. What if this separation is but an illusion? Could it be that the divine essence we attribute to a higher power is woven into the very fabric of existence, manifesting as the world we perceive?
This unity is evident in the relationship between matter and consciousness – two facets of the same jewel. Matter metamorphoses into energy, just as the body serves as the vessel for consciousness to express itself. Both body and soul arise from the same source, the same boundless essence.
Recognising this, we understand that within each of us lies the potential to elevate beyond our corporeal confines and become a beacon of pure awareness. When consciousness expands to its fullest expression, the illusionary divide between the physical and the spiritual dissolves, and we stand in the light of truth, unencumbered by our material form.
With this realisation, we must cast aside old paradigms that speak of creation, duality, and separation. We are invited to embrace existence in its rawest form – a dynamic, unceasing flow of energy and consciousness.
Krishna’s enlightening words lead us to this very realisation: by wielding detachment, we cut through the veils of illusion that shroud our perception. Beyond the limits of the transient, we discover the immutable, the infinite. It is in the surrender to this all-pervading truth where we come to fully understand our ultimate destination – an origin and abode both timeless and divine.
As we journey through the narrative of our lives, this wisdom serves not merely as a philosophical beacon but as a guiding light – a light that directs us to transcend the illusions of this world, reaffirming the eternality of our essence in the universe’s grand tapestry.
