Integrating Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life: Direction of Energy
- The Antahkarana is our source of consciousness. There are four functions of the Consciousness and according to the functions it is divided into four parts which are called: Mind – Resolution and a choice, Memories, Intelligence – discriminative and Limited Identity – Asmita, Ego. Consciousness is dormant; prana is active. Neither can exist or function without the other.
- Prana means “life force” and vayu means “wind” or “direction of energy.” Prana moves through the nadis to control different areas of the body and various physical and subtle activities. According to their functions it is divided into five Vayus called Prana, Samana, Apana, Udana and Vyana.
- Udana Prana: Udana Prana is the ascending energy that flows from the heart to the head and brain. Udana Prana accompanies the awakening of the Kundalini Shakti. It is with the assistance of Udana Prana that the Astral body separates itself from the physical body.
- Udana Vayu: Area of the body is from Vishuddha Chakra to Sahasrara Chakra. Connects the soul of the individual to the soul of the Universe. By mastering Udana Vayu, one will naturally feel the weightlessness of the body. But it is considered a mystical power. If you let go of the mystical power, the same levitating energy will challenge your ignorance for your spiritual growth to realise your true-self. Udana Vayu exits your body along with your soul at the moment of death and takes the soul to the Universe to receive a new body or liberation according to the spiritual growth of the conscience.
- Samana Prana: Samana Prana has an influence on the Manipura Chakra, whose corresponding element is fire. When Yogis are able to control Samana Prana it is a pure flame within them. Those in whom Samana Prana is completely pure are surrounded by a radiant aura, which is even noticeable by those who do not have the ability to see auras.
- Samana Vayu: Samana Vayu, or “balancing air,” is the Prana Vayu at the meeting point between Prana, the inward/upward-moving Vayu, and Apana, the outward/downward-moving Vayu. Samana Vayu unites these two energies together.
- By mastering Samana and Udana Vayu one can be liberated and self-realised. The Samana Vayu with its flame forms a platform for the breath to move from the lower to the higher entrusted to the Udana Vayu to transcend the mind, memories, intellect and ego. Udana Vayu with the force of levitation, levitates purified conscience to Sahasrara Chakra for self-realisation and liberation.
- Property of Space is Vibration and the sense organ is ears. Property of Vayu is touch and sense organ is skin. Property of fire is form and sense organs are eyes. Property of Water is taste and the sense organ is tongue. Property of the earth is fragrance and the sense organ is a nose.
- Tuning our ears with space is called austerity. With this we can hear divine words spoken by our Rishi and Avataras. As they are still in the space as a vibration of sound. One who has mastered this tuning can hear Universal Knowledge.
