Asamprajnata Samadhi:

  1. Videha: Videha refers to a ‘bodiless’ state where the yogi, having gone beyond bodily consciousness, enters into a metaphysical phase of existence.
    • Foster a deep understanding that the self is not the body or the mind, but the witness that observes both. Contemplative practices such as “neti neti” (not this, not that) may help with this realisation.
    • Embrace the study of sacred texts and philosophies that discuss the nature of the soul separate from the physical body to better understand the state of Videha.
    • Seek guidance from a teacher who has traversed the path to provide support and insight into the experience of transcending bodily consciousness.
  2. Prakriti Laya: Prakriti Layas signifies absorption into Prakriti, the primal matter, or nature itself, where individual consciousness merges with the universal or cosmic nature.
    • Seek a deep kinship with nature in day-to-day life, observing how natural rhythms and patterns play out within yourself and your environment, leading to an intrinsic sense of unity.
    • Meditate with the intention of dissolving the individual ego into the greater cosmic Prakriti, focusing on the interconnectedness of all life.
    • Practise seeing the divine in all aspects of nature as a form of meditation and worship, understanding that everything is a manifestation of the same universal energy.
  3. Asamprajnata Samadhi: Asamprajnata Samadhi is a state of deep meditative absorption without an object, where only the essence of self remains.
    • Progress through the eight limbs of yoga, particularly focusing on the preparations of dharana and dhyana to set the foundation.
    • Surrender all efforts and let go of the ego’s desire to attain or achieve, entering a state of grace.
    • Live ethically and with integrity, aligning actions with spiritual values to support the mind’s stability and readiness for deeper states of meditation.
    • When you attain Asamprajnata Samadhi the body is there, but you become bodiless.
