Types and Usage

A pen is a common writing instrument used to apply ink to a surface usually paper for writing or drawing.

There are various types of pens.

Reed pen: Generally made from bamboo is still used in some parts of Pakistan by young students.

Quill pens: It is a writing instrument made from a moulted flight feather of a large bird.

Dip pen: A pen consist of a metal nib with capillary channels like those of a fountain pen, nibs mounted in a handle or holder often made of wood bone metal and plastic

Ruling pen: Drawing instrument, for drawing with ink or with other drawing fluids

A ruling pen contains ink in a slot between two flexible metal Jaws which are tapered to a point. 

Modern types of pen

Ball pen: A pen that dispenses ink over a metal ball at its point i. e., over a ball point

Roller ball pens: A pens which are ball point writing mechanism with water based liquid or gelled ink.

Fountain pen: A nib pen that unlike its predecessor the dip pen contains an internal reservoir of liquid ink.

Felt Pen: A pen which has its own ink source and a tip made of porous, pressed fibers such as felt.

Gel Pen: A pen that uses a gel-based ink, combining the permanence of oil-based ballpoint ink and the smooth glide of water-based ink.

Highlighter Pen: A broad felt-tipped pen used to overlay transparent fluorescent color on text or a part of an illustration, leaving it legible and emphasized.

Brush Pens: The tool for you offering deep rich black color and varying lines widths depending on applied pressure.

Technical Pen: An excellent tool for illustrations, sketching, or writing.

Marker Pen: Smooth expressive long-lasting color for the artist in all of us.

Multi-functional Pen: Provide more than just one purpose.
