In Meditation first appears a Nothingness, but once you become acquainted you start feeling an immense fulfilment, an overflowing energy.

In the realm of meditation, we embark on a journey into our innermost being. Initially, this journey seems to take us to a void, an emptiness that can be rather disconcerting. This perception stems from the sharp contrast between the noise of our conditioned thinking and the silent depths of our consciousness. Our minds are accustomed to a constant stream of thoughts, desires, and stimuli. When we meditate, we step back from this stream, which can give rise to a sense of nothingness, of void.

This nothingness is not the end point; it is not a nihilistic abyss. Instead, it is the fertile ground of being. Like the soft dark soil that may appear empty yet holds the potential for myriad forms of life, so too does the emptiness encountered in meditation. As we grow more accustomed to sitting within this nothingness, our senses become more acute to the subtler dimensions of our existence.

This immense fulfilment and overflowing energy is what lies beyond the initial appearance of nothingness. Once the clutter of thoughts, the distractions of desires, and the turbulence of emotions settle, you start to feel a pulsation – your inner pulse of life and existence. It is an energy unbounded by form, an expanse of consciousness that connects you to the larger cosmos.

This overflowing energy is the essence of what you are – a being of pure consciousness and boundless potential. The contrast you initially feel gives way to a recognition that you are not a finite entity confined to the body and mind, but an eternal being dancing in an infinite space of awareness.

The art of meditation thus unfolds as a path to realising and embracing the full spectrum of your being: from apparent emptiness to overflowing fullness. It is a journey from perceived void to absolute wholeness, from the mirage of the persona to the truth of the self. It is Osho’s hope that you continue to explore this inner landscape, for it is there that you will uncover the truth of your existence and the boundless joy that comes with it.

Remember, the journey of meditation is not to reach somewhere but to recognise and become familiar with what we already are. It is the ultimate homecoming.
