Remove Barrier – In Gita Verse 14.9 O son of Bharata, the mode of goodness conditions one to happiness; passion conditions one to fruitive action; and ignorance, covering one’s knowledge, binds one to madness.

Krishna reveals a profound truth in the Bhagavad Gita: Sattva Guna manifests in the joy of being, Rajas in the energy of action, and Tamas obscures knowledge in the fog of inertia. Yet Nirguna stands apart – unfettered and boundless.

The three gunas are not mere qualities; they are like ropes binding the soul, defining the boundaries of our existence. Hence, we refer to the Divine as ‘Nirguna’ – beyond these binding forces.

Nirguna does not imply that the Divine lacks qualities; it conveys that it transcends limitations. It is not bound. The gunas do not confine the Divine; it exists outside their sphere. ‘Nirguna’ signifies absolute freedom – an autonomy that is also nestled within you, but obscured by layers of bondage.

Remember, no chain can destroy the essence of freedom; it only restricts its expression. Imprisonment does not annihilate freedom, merely veils it. When the chains are broken, the freedom that has always been there is once again revealed.

Within every being, freedom endures eternally. However, barriers arise, and if they become objects of attachment, we suffer. Our predicament is this: we mistake our shackles for ornaments, encrusting them with jewels and painting them with colors, celebrating our captivity.

When adornments are perceived as constraints, true liberation becomes an arduous pursuit. Where some see shackles, others see decorations. To begin the path of redemption, one must first recognise the prison for what it is, not a home to be embellished but a confinement to be broken free from.

To disentangle yourself from these self-imposed shackles is to embark on a journey towards Nirguna – ultimate liberation. Meditation emerges as a transformative power in this quest:

Meditation, fundamentally, is a state beyond techniques – a state of pure awareness. But, as centuries of conditioning and layers of mental obstacles bar the way to this natural state, techniques become essential. They do not contain meditation within themselves, but rather, they clear the path to it.

These techniques serve as tools to dismantle the barriers to our innermost being – the seat of meditation. They are not the destination but the journey; not the end, but the means. When practiced with this understanding, techniques dissolve obstructions and meditation blossoms naturally.

Krishna, through the timeless wisdom of the Gita, reassures us: the ordeal of life, with its complexities and perplexities, can be navigated with grace. There is hope without the need for techniques, yet without them, we may wander endlessly, lost in the labyrinth of the mind.

Embrace the techniques as stepping stones towards the awakened state that meditation promises. Let them be the gentle whisper that urges the eyes to open, revealing the grandeur of the universe that awaits your undivided attention.
