Eight Constitute – In Gita Verse 7.4 Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego – all together these eight constitute My separated material energies.

When Krishna talks about eight constitute; don’t take his words of objective world. He talks about our subjectivity. Till the first five constitute science can help us, that our body is made up of five elements but when it comes to mind, intelligence and false ego we need our own experience.

Like in the seed the whole tree is hidden but if we dissect the seed, we will not find the tree unless we allow it to grow it will become a huge tree.

Our sages said this through their own experience, during the meditation. When they go deep into meditation they find all these eight elements within them.

Recollected from your own experience – When you go deep into meditations, do you know after the meditation your body is warm up, without any exercise. Even if we don’t see any light or fire. But our body is slightly warm. From where this fire comes to warm us up.

During the meditations many times many people find weightlessness. This weightlessness is because during the meditation the person becomes separate from his thoughts, emotions, and ego. So weightlessness.

As you meditate more you will find all these eight constitute within you. It’s a journey from gross to subtle. False ego is absolutely subtle so we find difficulty in transcending it.

Try to understand the ego. Analyze it, dissect it, watch it, observe it, from as many angles as possible. And don’t be in a hurry to sacrifice it, otherwise the greatest egoist is born: the person who thinks he is humble, the person who thinks that he has no ego.

That is again the same story played on a more subtle level. That’s what religious people have been doing down the ages – pious egoists they have been. They have made their ego even more decorated; it has taken the color of religion and holiness. Your ego is better than the ego of a saint; your ego is better, far better – because your ego is very gross, and the gross ego can be understood and dropped more easily than the subtle. The subtle ego goes on playing such games that it is very difficult. One will need absolute awareness to watch it.

Through meditation you will be able to transcend all the eight elements. Transcending means understanding that each element or constitute; has its own role to play in this objective world through your watchfulness, alertness. Remember that through your watchfulness, alertness. Meditation.

Exactly like a movie each actor needs to play their role and then come out of the screen and let others play their role.

Meditation has to be only a watchfulness; then it is possible to have it twenty-four hours a day. Even while going to sleep, be watchful. To the last moment, when you see that now sleep is taking you over – the darkness goes on growing, the body is relaxing and the point comes when suddenly from wakefulness you move into sleep – watch up to that moment. And first thing in the morning, as you become aware that the sleep is finished, immediately start watching; soon you will be able to watch even while you are asleep.

Watchfulness will become a lamp that goes on burning day and night inside you.

This is the only authentic meditation. All else that has been told to you in the name of meditation is simply a toy to play with, to deceive yourself that you are doing something spiritual. With this meditation you will come across the inescapable. Everything illusory will disappear.

But everything in existence is not illusory. That which is not illusory is inescapable, and what are you going to do with the inescapable? Perhaps you have never thought about it. This very inescapability itself is meditation.

If you go on watching even the inescapable, you will be able to see clearly that, that which disappears while watching is illusory; that which becomes even more clear, more crystal clear, which was before hidden behind the cloud of your illusory dreams, desires, now stands absolutely clear.

Krishna says be mediative and remember that these eight constitute the gift of the universe, God, through your watchfulness, alertness allow them to play their own role in the objective world. Most important thing to remember is through your watchfulness and alertness.
