There once lived a samurai who was plagued by a large and clever rat who had the run of the house. This annoyed the samurai to no end so he went to the village to buy a cat. A street vender sold him a cat that he said would catch the rat, and indeed the cat looked trim and fit. But the rat was even quicker than the cat and after a week with no success the samurai returned the cat. This time the vender pulled out a large and grizzled cat and guaranteed that no rat could escape this master mouser.

The rat knew enough to stay clear of this tough alley cat, but when the cat slept, the rat ran about. Half the day the rat would hide, but the other half he again had run off the place. The samurai brought the cat back to the vendor who shook his head in despair saying he had given the samurai his best cat and there was nothing more he could do.

Returning home with his money, the samurai happened upon a monk and sought his advice. After hearing the samurai’s story the monk offered him the services of the cat that lived in the temple. The cat was old and fat and he scarcely seemed to notice when he was carried away by the doubtful samurai.

For two weeks the cat did little more than sleep all day and night. The samurai wanted to give the cat back to the temple but the monk insisted he keep him a while longer, assuring him the rat’s days were close to an end. The rat became accustomed to the presence of the lazy old cat and was soon up to his old tricks even, on occasion, brazenly dancing around the old cat as he slept.

Then one day, as the rat went about his business without any concern, he passed close by the cat who swiftly struck out his paw and pinned the rat to the floor. The rat died instantly.

Wait For Right Moment

All the three cats were given the same job. Then why only the cat from the temple can accomplish her job. First cat was fit but the rat was quicker than the cat. So she was a failure. The second cat when she was awake because of her physical structure, rat was not coming out when she was awake. But as soon as she was asleep he would come out. The third one from the temple, that cat was awake even while sleeping. She was watching the rat and his behaviour. She was waiting for the right moment to act. And when she found the right moment to act she acted.

Life was always a matter of waiting for the right moment to act.

Life Is About Waiting For The Right Moment To Act, It’s Never Too Late in life!

Obama retired at 55 and Trump started at 70. Facts are true but conclusions are wrong. If you want to achieve focus and be driven, on the way one could be opportunistic. Mr. Trump became president at 70 but he had many accomplishments which could be achieved by many people not one.

Age Is Just a Number! It Is Never Too Late

You become old through others’ eyes. You become old because of the mirror. If mirrors disappear and nobody talks about your age, and there is no calendar and no time measurement, you will remain young longer….

Joshu was a master who started to study Zen when he was sixty….

Remember, your age is not relevant. You may be a child or you may be very, very old. You may be young, you may be healthy, or you may be ill – it makes no difference. The basic thing is to be empty within. It has nothing to do with your walls, young or old.

A child can attain enlightenment, a man just on the verge of death can attain enlightenment because enlightenment is not concerned with your body; it is concerned with something which is absolutely bodiless. It is concerned with the within which has no age. It is non-temporal. Time is not at all a problem. You may not have observed this because you live such an unconscious life, and observation needs consciousness, alertness, awareness.

If you look within, can you feel the age, how old you are? If you close your eyes and look within, the emptiness within seems to be ageless, without age.

Are you a child? Are you young? Are you old? The inner space seems to be non-temporal – it is! That’s why you become old through others’ eyes. You become old because of the mirror. If mirrors disappear and nobody talks about your age, and there is no calendar and no time measurement, you will remain young longer….

Learning from the story Rat And Cat: Wait For Right Moment

Experience Learning

We all are in a hurry to accomplish things. We all want to accomplish everything at this moment. Sometimes it becomes impossible to wait in life. The art of patience is a talent that we need to cultivate consciously.

We all know only one way, and that way is to chase everything in life. Simply chasing life at all fronts disconnects you from the very core process of life. To wait is a key to life. Sometimes, just waiting allows life to unfold on its own. You don’t need effort, but holding yourself for some time allows you to see the path of life.

What is the right time?

The right time is when you are with the flow of life. When you don’t need effort to accomplish things, but it happens on its own. You simply flow with life and accomplish your desires. You follow your intuition and not your mind. This doesn’t mean you don’t act, but your action remains in alignment with the ways of life.

When you are with the flow of life, life seems effortless.

Many times when we try to push things harder, we tend to tear things apart. We feel stuck. We don’t find the ways to move forward. At the same time if we live with the sense of surrender, right things manifest at the right time.

When we learn the art of holding ourselves back and allow life to happen, we simply become one with the process of life. We allow life to unfold.

Life follows a circle of action, rest, action. It’s the resting period that allows the things to flourish in a natural way.

When you flow with the natural process of life, you not only accomplish things, but you also enjoy the process of life. It’s not necessary to always run after life. Sometimes the view simply by observing life gives you a clear perspective towards life.

WAITING PERIOD ALLOWS YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF LIFE. YOU BECOME THE OBSERVER OF LIFE. YOU DON’T FOLLOW THE WAYS OF THE MIND; RATHER YOU FOLLOW THE WAYS OF LIFE.

Watch and Wait: relaxing and waking up – instinct and intuition:

The mind is all about reaction. You react. There is a cause from outside and you give the effect. Your response doesn’t take life forward; rather you simply react to what exists at the moment. Reactions simply take you into the repetitive circle of life, while the response out of a complete understanding of the situation, serves you to take your life forward.

Come out of your mind to experience life at the moment.

You have to be watchful on your path. You have to be aware at every moment. No moment should go by without you being aware of it. Act but stay aware of your action. Wait and at the same time, stay aware of your waiting period.

You not only wait, rather you consciously wait and observe everything that goes around you.

When you consciously wait, you also allow the consciousness to grow in you. Your mind expands. You open yourself to life.

There is a time to run, and then there is also a time to relax. You need to know the difference between the both.
