1. Who has moved through all the phases of his annamaya kosha. Not only that: one who has gone beyond it and who can look at the annamaya kosha as a witness, experienced deathlessness and understood what fasting is – it is not renouncing the food but transcending a sense of taste.
  2. This is important because this is your first body and people more or less cling to their first body; they never move to the second.
  3. The second body is Pranamaya kosha – the energy body, electric body. The second consists of electric fields. This second body is more subtle than the first, and people who start moving from the first body to the second become fields of energy, tremendously attractive, magnetic, hypnotic. If you go near them, you will feel vitalized, charged.
  4. The second body, Pranamaya Kosha is the energy sheath of the body and is the bridge between the physical and spiritual bodies. It is said to be located at the third eye, head and chest. This Kosha is made up of the five major pranas, they are Udana, Prana, Samana, Apana and Vyana helping flow life force energy throughout the body. The subtle energy channels known as nadis and the chakras lie in this body.
  5. Pranamaya kosha is what unites the body and mind. Prana enters the body via nourishment and breath.
  6. Pranamaya kosha, gives you a new freedom, gives you more space. The second body is bigger than the first; it is not confined to your physical body. It is inside the physical body and it is outside the physical body. It surrounds you like a subtle climate, an aura of energy. Now in Soviet Russia they have discovered that photographs can be taken of the energy body. They call it bioplasma, but it exactly means prana. The energy, elan vital, or what Taoists call chi, can be photographed now. Now it has become almost scientific.
  7. Natural breathing has to be understood. Watch a child and that is the natural breathing, and breathe that way. Let your belly come up when you inhale, let your belly go down when you exhale. And let it be in such a rhythm it becomes almost a song in your energy, a dance – with rhythm, with harmony – and you will feel so relaxed, so alive, so vital that you cannot imagine that such vitality is possible.
  8. When one is breathing naturally hara chakra, three fingers below the navel, gets activated, where life and death meet. It is through this chakra that the body is reborn, reproduces itself.
  9. To transcend the Pranamaya Kosha is to understand that you are more than your energies. Through regular practice of pranayama, you can develop greater awareness of the breath and the subtle energy of the body.
  10. By transcending Mind, Intellect, Memory & Ego one will transcend Pranayamaya Kosha. With this the second body will be pure and Mind, Intellect, Memory & Ego will transcend to discriminate wisdom. Now it is easy to enter into the third body; otherwise it will be difficult – you will be loaded with Mind, Intellect, Memory & Ego. Purification of the body simply means now the body will follow discriminate wisdom, universal wisdom.
