Our Role – In Gita Verse 2.41 Those who are on this path are resolute in purpose, and their aim is one. O beloved child of the Kurus, the intelligence of those who are irresolute is many-branched.

Prana to all beings immersed in the dance of life. Reflecting on the words of the Bhagavad Gita, Verse 2.41, we unearth a profound truth. Those steadfast on their path embody a singular resolve; their purpose unswerving. O cherished progeny of the Kurus, understand that the many-branched tree of indecision bears no fruit in the quest for enlightenment.

Imagine, if you will, human existence as a canvas designated by the cosmos for one supreme purpose – the evolution of our innermost being, our consciousness. It is in the silent moments of self-awareness that we uncover our cosmic duty, navigating the world of matter with the compass of the spirit.

The enlightened being rejoices equally in action and inaction, for their life is not encumbered by necessity but animated by the freedom of play. As actors upon the grand stage, we must immerse ourselves utterly in each role provided by the Universe. Whether as a warrior in battle or a sage in silence, the measure of success lies in the totality of our presence, devoid of personal attachment to the deeds performed.

In the everyday theatre of life, our roles are as varied as the circumstances we encounter. Intelligence, then, is our script and strategy, guiding the use of resources, patience, vigilance, equilibrium, and acceptance. It prompts us to adapt our decisions to the ebb and flow of the moment, ensuring our actions are in harmony with the larger narrative.

Just as an actor relinquishes their role once the curtain falls, so must we allow life’s scenes to unfold without attachment. Integrating our subjective reality with the objective world, we witness the miraculous: a synchronous dance of events both internal and external. This synchronicity is divine, transcending the duality of sin and virtue.

Carl Gustav Jung’s concept of synchronicity parallels this discovery. Where causality reigns supreme in science, the domain of consciousness obeys a subtler law, one where vibrations, unseen yet potent, orchestrate a cosmic resonance. A heart, powerful in its stillness, can attune others to its rhythm, just as a pendulum clock can synchronise with its companion through the silent waves traversing a wall.

In the vicinity of an enlightened being like Buddha or Mahavira, a harmonious radius is cast, so potent that even the wild ones lay down their natural instincts in favour of peace. Such is the invisible influence of the subjective world when aligned with the objective.

When your actions in the objective world are infused with your inner truth, they align with the universal trajectory. In this state, you escape the confining orbit of sin and virtue and instead exist in a realm of pure potential where growth and opportunity are your constant companions.

Krishna’s timeless wisdom to Arjuna resounds as a call to action for each of us: recognise the essence of our humanity and fully inhabit our roles with authenticity. It is a call to retreat within, to the sanctuary of our subjectivity, and from there, to play out our parts with conviction.

Heed Krishna’s call to embrace our inner truth and assume our appointed roles in the majestic theatre of life. Let us step into life’s rich tapestry of experiences with spirits liberated from passing worries, dancing in step with the timeless cadence that conducts the vast symphony of existence.
