Avoid Nothing – In Gita Verse 15.18 Because I am transcendental, beyond both the fallible and the infallible, and because I am the greatest, I am celebrated both in the world and in the Vedas as that Supreme Person.

In the divine conversation of Bhagavad Gita Verse 15.18, Lord Krishna transcends dualities, declaring Himself as the Supreme Person, beyond the fallible and infallible. This understanding of transcendence isn’t just meant for the spiritual evolution of an old era; it is a timeless, universal principle that can guide us in navigating the currents of our everyday life.

Transcendence, as expounded by Krishna, is not about suppression or concealment of our thoughts and desires, but rather an organic progression towards a higher state of being. It is about outgrowing our limitations just as a seed naturally breaks its shell to become a sapling, striving for the sky. This growth speaks of a transcendence that is a celebration of life in all its dimensions – embracing both the light and the shadow, the material and the spiritual, without confinement within the walls of the mind.

In my writings on the Bhagavad Gita Verse 4.15, I explore this very nature of transcendence which is a journey rather than a destination, a becoming rather than a state of being. It is about transcending our current plane of consciousness and stepping into a space where everything is witnessed, but nothing is judged. Transformation, therefore, means changing the plane of your understanding – and to do that, you must rise to the plane of no-mind where you are the master of your being.

Watching the mind with detachment is the first step towards utilising it effectively without falling prey to its traps. Psychology, while it can analyse the mind, stops at its threshold, unable to lead you beyond. True transformation is not a reshuffling of mental patterns but an ascendance to a dimension where you, the observer, hold the reins.

In the dance of life and death, each step must be taken with full awareness, for it is in the deepest experiences of love and loss that we come to understand the transient nature of existence. Recognising death as a culmination of life’s dance enables us to transcend fear and greet it as an old friend, a final lover who leads us into the everlasting embrace of the cosmos.

Understanding the subtle difference between ‘indifference’ and ‘transcendence’ is crucial. Indifference distances while transcendence includes. It is being involved with every part of our journey, good or bad, while maintaining the calm equilibrium of a watcher on the hill.

Revelling in the pure state of joy – that is transcendental. It is a reflective pool of serenity, undisturbed by external ripples, a peace that is both vibrant and profound. Unlike happiness which depends on external circumstances, joy springs from the well of your own being.

In Krishna’s divine discourse, there is no call for renunciation for its own sake; rather, He presents us with a grand vision of transcendence. To transcend is to go beyond the dichotomy of duality, to find the seamless thread that weaves itself through the tapestry of diversity, to discover harmony within contradiction. It is an expedition beyond mere affirmation or negation, venturing into the vastness of infinite potential where the cosmos orchestrates its sublime symphony.

Krishna beckons us through these profound words to the dance of transcendence – a choreography that invites us to trace the contours of a journey transcending ordinary sight, steering us towards the radiant core of our true essence. As the Bhagavad Gita casts its timeless glow across the shadowy terrains of uncertainty, it guides us, like a steadfast torch, towards the revelation of our own sacred flame.
